A Série D do Campeonato Brasileiro é a quarta divisão do futebol nacional e é organizada pela Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF). A competição reúne clubes de todas as regiões do país e é disputada por equipes que não estão na elite do futebol brasileiro, ou seja, que não disputam a Série A, B ou C.
Na Série D, as equipes são divididas em 17 grupos com quatro clubes cada, totalizando 68 equipes. Os times jogam entre si dentro dos grupos em turno e returno, totalizando seis jogos na fase de grupos. Os dois primeiros colocados de cada grupo avançam para a fase eliminatória, que é disputada em sistema de mata-mata.
Os quatro clubes que chegam às semifinais garantem o acesso à Série C do Campeonato Brasileiro do ano seguinte. Já os finalistas disputam o título da Série D em duas partidas.
A Série D é uma competição importante para os clubes que buscam crescer e se destacar no cenário do futebol brasileiro. Além disso, a competição também é uma oportunidade para que jogadores menos conhecidos possam se destacar e serem observados por clubes de divisões superiores.
